RaiseMe Community

#12DaysOfKindness Student Spotlight, Day 2: Andrew C.

To ring in the holiday season, RaiseMe is celebrating #12DaysOfKindness. Each day, we’ll feature a new high school student doing outstanding work to serve their communities. Today’s spotlight is on Andrew C., a senior from Shelton, CT who sells handcrafted jewelry to raise money for Nicaraguan communities in need.

Here’s what Andrew shared about his community service experience:

What is your act of service ?

I worked with my local chapter of the Spanish Club to complete the Pulsera Project. We sold hand woven Nicaraguan bracelets to raise money for Nicaraguan communities in need

Can you share your favorite memory from this act of service?

We were able to video call a man in Nicaragua who was working with the artists crafting the pulseras. We learned about daily life in Nicaragua, the struggles many faced, and the culture of the people.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from your service experience?

Together, we can make a difference in the world, for in my school alone we raised $625 for Nicaraguan communities in need. When people stick together, and act out of love and kindness, they can do truly remarkable things.
