Yamanashi Prefectural University Scholarship

The Yamanashi Prefecture Research Scholarship is a unique scholarship opportunity, established almost 20 years ago between Iowa Sister States (ISS) and Yamanashi Prefectural University (YPU). ISS is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization based in Des Moines, Iowa. Its mission is to connect Iowans with the world community by providing international programs that promote the mutual interests of citizens in Iowa and our Sister States. Each year, ISS selects one current student or recent graduate from a college in the state of Iowa to attend classes and complete a research project of his or her choice at YPU, a public university located in Kofu. Applicants for this scholarship must speak Japanese at a high level and demonstrate an ability to be a positive ambassador for Iowa. The Iowa scholar should plan to be in Japan from June-March. Following the scholar's return from Japan, ISS will arrange an event for the scholar to present his or her research project to friends, family and community members in Iowa. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
