The Wah Lum Warrior Spirit Scholarship Award seeks to recognize and provide support to graduating high school students who have shown exceptional perseverance in overcoming special adversity during their school careers and have developed a meaningful plan for their future. The Award is administered by the Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy of Malden. Kung fu, one of the chief martial arts taught at Wah Lum Academy, is sometimes translated into English as "hard work"; the Warrior Spirit Award seeks to honor the great labor of young people in overcoming adversity from within and without, and the special effort needed to transform their experiences into a meaningful trajectory in their personal lives and communities.
