The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship For New Americans
The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans are for up to two years graduate study in the professions and academic disciplines at any institution of higher learning in the United States. The prestigious Fellowships are funded by a trust established by Paul and Daisy Soros and were created in recognition of the contributions of New Americans to American life and in gratitude for the opportunities the United States has afforded to the donors and their families.
Eligibility: -Be a New American who is 30 or younger as of the application deadline-At the time of their selection, fellows must be college seniors or early in the graduate programs for which they request support-Fellows can study in any degree-granting program in any field at any university in the U.S.-Fellows are selected on the basis of merit - the specific criteria emphasize creativity, originality, initiative and sustained accomplishment - in annual national competitions. Candidates apply directly. The program does not depend on recommendations from universities or regional screening. Neither financial need nor distributive considerations are taken into account in the selection process-Each Fellow attends two-weekend conferences. The great majority continue to be involved with the program through regional dinners, service in the selection process for later classes, etc.Two essays are required, along with the application.
