Students of the Year Scholarship Opportunity - Palm Beach Area
The Students of the Year Campaign is a seven-week initiative in which local high school students participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Palm Beach Chapter. Students are selected as Students of the Year candidates via the LLS selection committee. Selection is based on a questionnaire and short essay submitted by each interested student. Candidates will raise money in honor of our local patient heroes who are currently battling or in remission from a blood cancer. The candidate(s) who raise the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year and will earn a $2,500 college scholarship. In addition, there are Citizenship Awards for student candidates who excel in volunteerism, community involvement, and mission focus.
Students rally their communities, schools, and families to support their fundraising efforts. Along with their own web sites, students will work with LLS staff to set a fundraising goal and to develop an action plan to reach that goal. Students will be fundraising to meet a minimum goal of $5,000 per candidate team. LLS will provide fundraising materials and support throughout the campaign. The easiest ways to fundraise are through a letter writing/email campaign, company sponsorship, and social networking. Each candidate and their campaign team will brainstorm with LLS to determine a plan for success. For more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
