Students of the Year - New Jersey

The Student of the Year Campaign is a seven-week fundraising initiative in which selected students participate in a fundraising challenge. Nominated students are selected as Student of the Year candidates based upon a questionnaire and short essay submitted by each interested student. Candidates will raise money in honor of one local teen honored hero and the candidate who raises the most money at the end of the 7 weeks is named Student of The Year and will receive a $10,000 scholarship to the college of their choice. In addition, there are Citizenship Awards for the student candidates who excel in Volunteerism, Community Involvement, and Mission Focus. To join the fight against cancer and improve the quality of life for our patients and their families. Leukemia is the number one cancer killer of children under the age of 20; therefore kids are helping kids battling these devastating cancers. To also help boost the college applications and resumes with a leadership and philanthropic adventure. Candidates have the opportunity to build their resume, fulfill service learning requirements and learn valuable leadership schools and life skills, and to earn scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded as follows:-Highest fundraiser: "The Stacey Weathers Honorary Scholarship" of $10,000-Runner Up: $5,000-Three Citizenship Awards (Volunteerism, Mission Focused & Community Involvement): $500 each-Any candidate raising $2,500 or more receives a "Buy a Book" scholarship:$250Students rally their communities, schools, and families to support their fundraising efforts. Along with their own websites, students will work with LLS staff to set a fundraising goal and to develop an action plan to reach their goal. LLS will provide fundraising materials and support throughout the campaign. The easiest ways to fundraise are through a letter writing/email campaign, company scholarship and social networking.
