With education costs spiraling ever higher, a college education is beyond the financial reach of many outstanding students. The RMHC Scholarship Program opens the door to higher education for graduating high school seniors who face limited access to educational and career opportunities.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeastern Ohio, Inc., (RMHC-NEO) will award 60 scholarships for $1,000 and 4 scholarships of $2,000 each, one of which will be renewable for two years.The RMHC Scholarship Program seeks to invest in students who are exemplary role models in their communities and have the initiative to fulfill their educational goals. The goal of the program is simple: to identify and invest in future leaders.The RMHC Scholarship Program is comprised of four individual scholarships. There will be one online application for all four scholarships. â¢ RMHCÂ®/ASIA (Asian Students Increasing Achievement) Applicant must have at least one parent of Asian-Pacific heritageâ¢ RMHCÂ®/African American Future Achievers. Applicant must have at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage.â¢ RMHCÂ®/HACER (Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources). Applicant must have at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino heritage.â¢ RMHCÂ® Scholars. All students are eligible to apply regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.Scholarship applicants must â¢ live within the RMHC-NEO geographic service area consisting of twenty (20) counties in Northeast Ohio. These counties are: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Coshocton, Crawford, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Harrison, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne.â¢ Be a legal U.S. resident.â¢ Be under 21 years of age.â¢ Carry a minimum 2.7 GPA.â¢ Disclose other scholarship programs for which he/she has applied.â¢ Plan to enroll and attend an institution of higher education or a vocational/technical school during the academic year following graduation.â¢ Complete and submit a scholarship application online and send required supporting materials and documentation to ISTS postmarked no later than the application deadline date.â¢ Apply for only one of the scholarships offered by the local RMHC Chapter. If a student is multi-racial, they still must choose only one scholarship to which to apply.â¢ Be willing to provide additional verification of all information in the scholarship application, upon request.Students are selected and awards are distributed based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement/leadership and financial need.Application process for scholarship year will open October 1st.
