Michael Gendreau Scholarship
The Michael Gendreau Community Service Scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors who plan to attend a two- or four-year college.
Eligibility:-Must be a resident and graduating senior of Newark, Fremont, or Union City (CA) -Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher -Must have performed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteer service to the community in your junior and/or senior years-Voluntary service cannot be for an organization the individual is a member of for which they receive benefits - i.e.: scouts, church group, sports organizations. Service should be for the community, such as The League of Volunteers (LOV), Salvation Army, Second Chance, Viola Blythe Community Service Center, Ardenwood Historic Farm, Library, ABODE, Tri-City Volunteers, Centerville Free Dining-Volunteer service must be outlined in the application and be verifiable-Preference will be given to service to special needs individuals or for the betterment of the community in one or more of the following categories: education, social service, historic preservation, children's activities, civic pride & awareness, and the arts -Write a brief essay about yourself and your career goalsFor more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
