MECU Scholarship

Program Details The MECU Scholarship commences on May 13th. All completed application packages must be mailed and received by June 30th to be eligible.Who We Are Looking ForTo be considered for one of the scholarships, students must be an MECU member and:have demonstrated significant community involvement, whether through work and/or volunteer activitieshave demonstrated academic achievementbe passionate about improving themselves and their communitiesEligibility RequirementsStudent applicants must be MECU members. Applicant must have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or 4.0 or higher on a 5.0 scale, and in fall semester 2016-2017 must attend an accredited 4 year college/university and take at least 12 credit hours per semester.Application RequirementsAll eligible applicants must submit the following: - A completed, typed application - Original essay (see below) - Two letters of recommendation from teachers or community leaders (copies are sufficient) - Official high school transcripts (copies are sufficient) - Letter of acceptance from the school you will attend (a copy is sufficient)Essay Content:Please complete essay of 300 to 500 words in length and answer the following question on a separate page.MECU's commitment is to be an advocate for our members. Give an example of when you've advocated for someone or something.Application ReviewA scholarship committee made up of MECU employees will review applications and determine winners for scholarship awards based on judging criteria. Decisions will be made by August 1st, and announced on mecu.org the same day.Program DisclosuresAll decisions are final. Winners will be notified by phone. Scholarship checks will be made directly to the students’ college or university. No MECU or Liberty Mutual board member, member of either management team, staff member or their children are eligible for this scholarship program. View official rules.
