Janelle VerMaas Memorial Scholarship

Janelle VerMaas was a lifelong resident of Lexington, from the age of three until she passed on June 18, 2015 at the age of 60. Janelle attended Pershing Elementary, St. Ann's High School, University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Kearney State College. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she received her Master's degree. She taught at Pershing Elementary and went on to teach the majority of her 33-year career there, teaching mostly kindergarten. Janelle not only taught and touched the hearts of thousands of children but also hundreds of adults too.
