James J. Regan Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the Nationa Technical Investigators' Association is to develop the professionalism of the members by furthering their skills and knowledge in the areas of technical surveillance, law enforcement, and forensic activities through the offering of special training, the interagency exchange of ideas and experiences, and assistance in the implementation of new techniques and equipment in the law enforcement community. In 1990, at NATIA's national conference, unanimous approval was given to establish a scholarship in the name of our late founder, Captain James J. Regan, in keeping with his philosophy of "excellence through education." Any law enforcement explorer who is in the 12th grade or in an accredited college program may apply. Candidates will beevaluated on the basis of their academic record, leadership ability, extracurricular activities, and a personal statement on "What significance I place on a technical background in law enforcement."Submission materials:-Three letters of recommendation (at least two from people outside of law enforcement)-A 250-word (minimum) essay on "How will technology affect law enforcement in the 21st Century?"-High school transcripts (if in college, submit both college and high school transcripts)-A black-and-white glossy photograph (preferably in uniform) for publicity purposes in the event of selectionFor more information or to apply, please visit the scholarship provider's website.
