Frederic Jueneman Newark Arts Council Music Scholarship

Each year the Newark Arts Council awards the following scholarships to graduating seniors who show exceptional talent. Eligibility:-Must be 12th grade student attending a Fremont, Newark or Union City High School-Must have taken at least one class on campus or private lessons in instrumental or vocal area-Must have performed in two or more recitals in school or public setting-Performance of original music or scores are eligible and encouraged-Need at least one recommendation from private or school music instructor-Must prepare and perform 2 selections each to be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of a 5 minutes related to instrumental or vocal music area in which you are competing at an audition, Each piece must be with the same instrument (no mixing of vocal/instrumental or two difference instruments). The two selections must offer different musical styles or period (ie: classical, modern, baroque, contemporary, jazz)-Must audition on the date fixed for judging - Saturday April 30 at 10:30 am.
