Bernard E. Dillon Vocational Skills Scholarship
Five scholarships for vocational/technical training are offered annually. These scholarships are named in honor of AMRA Past National President Bernard E. Dillon who encouraged the Association to create a Foundation that would raise funds to continually increase the number of scholarships that could be provided to military families. Dillon later became the first President of the Foundation Board. The Dillon Scholarships are for post high school students attending vocational-technical classes at an accredited vocational-technical school.
All scholarships are awarded to qualified applicants at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. Those eligible for a scholarship are current members of AMRA, their spouses and dependent children, and their grandchildren (who can be claimed as dependents on their parents' income tax return) who are in a full-time two or four year undergraduate degree-granting program at an accredited college or university. The Scholarship must be used for tuition and books.Criteria for evaluation and award of a scholarship are the studentâs educational achievements, leadership abilities, character, citizenship, and community service.
