For my Freshman year, I attended the Texas A&M Higher Education Center in McAllen, it's still a new building with a close-knit staff. I appreciated the opportunity to stay close to home, but some people still end up moving to College Station.

I love the Aggie Network and how friendly everyone is. There's a ton of organizations to be involved in and it's really easy to find something you like. I always feel pretty safe and campus doesn't feel as big as it is.

The friendly atmosphere here at Texas A&M is very unique and quite a surprise to me. When applying to colleges, I didn’t consider atmosphere when looking at a school - I focused primarily on academic rigor amen scholarship offerings. However, the amazingly welcoming atmosphere has genuinely enhanced my experience far beyond what I could have hoped for.
